About the Ingredients in 3-in-1 Serum:

Jojoba oil comes from the seeds of the jojoba plant, native to the deserts of California. You might have heard that jojoba oil is actually a wax; “it's an extremely long (C36–C46) straight-chain wax ester and not a triglyceride, making jojoba and its derivative jojoba esters more similar to human sebum and whale oil than to traditional vegetable oils.” (wikipedia). In practical terms, this means that jojoba moisturizes skin without leaving it greasy, and also isn’t subject to rancidity in the same way that vegetable oils are. Folks who have oily skin and issues related to too much sebum (like acne) can often tolerate jojoba as a skin treatment. This is why jojoba is a base oil in all my skin care products - there’s no substitute!

Rosehip oil is extracted from rosehips - the fruit of roses. It’s attracted a lot of attention in recent years as a number of clinical studies have shown it to be effective at tissue regeneration - specifically wound and scar healing,  and reversing sun damage and wrinkles (omg right?!)

Calendula oil is an infused oil, not an essential oil. I make my own calendula oil for all my products by infusing organic calendula blossoms in organic sunflower oil. This creates a golden yellow oil with a distinctive musky, bitter scent. The scent reflects the compounds in calendula that give it its potent anti-inflammatory, and anti bacterial properties. Calendula has been used in traditional European medicine for millenia to speed wound healing and soothe the skin, and recent allopathic studies have borne out this use. It has also been studied for prevention and treatment of radiation skin damage in people undergoing radiation therapy. Sunflower oil also has anti-bacterial properties and is the oil of choice for those with acne-prone skin.

Hazelnut oil is a light and non greasy oil, also known as an astringent oil. Because of this I recommend it for skin that is prone to breakouts, redness and irritation, or combination skin. Its high concentrations of vitamin e,  tannins and other flavonoids can help clear skin, while still softening and moisturizing. If you have regular acne pustules or cystic acne, use the ‘cleansing’ method to get the benefits of this healing oil while keeping your pores open

Cleansing treatment: use at the end of the day, to remove grime and makeup. Also helps remove bad days and toxic people. Apply liberally to face. Cover with a warm (not hot!) washcloth for 1-2 minutes and wipe clean.

Moisturizing treatment: use in the morning before facing the day, or spot apply to troubled areas. apply 3-5 drops to damp face, gently massage until absorbed.
